Aqueous Gold's technologies purify, separate, and concentrate aqueous liquids at non-thermal temperatures, so that no thermal damage can occur. For the first time ever, fresh juice for example, can retain the original taste and nutrition of freshly squeezed juice for months, not days. This technology has come at a time when consumer demand for high flavor and nutrition is so great, that consumers pay record prices for products they believe contain better nutrition and flavor. AG technology creates low cost, high purity separations, and protects fragile organic molecules of great value, making new products possible, for example:
  • Biofuels, such as fuel ethanol are separated at higher purity and with far lower energy cost.
  • Fresh Juices have true fresh-squeezed flavor and nutrition… for months.
  • Nutraceuticals such as antioxidants of unexcelled purity are extracted at low cost.

These new products demonstrate a wide-open field in many large markets for higher quality and lower cost separations, or authentic fresh taste and full nutrition, where consumers have grown accustomed to a level field of mediocre quality. In order for these new juices, botanicals, edible oils, biofuels, and many other products to exist, new technology must exist first : a revolutionary group of processes that operate where distillation has never been done before… at non-thermal temperatures!
Thermal distillation (extraction and purification) processes have been practiced largely unchanged for over 1,200 years. The invention of a highly effective distillation process is generally credited to Arabic and Persian chemists in the Middle East in the 8th century. This process is still the most widely used form of industrial distillation today. All distillation processes achieve purification or extraction through the use of high temperature heat. This has the adverse effect of destroying the natural compounds inherent in those substances that account for taste, color, aroma and nutritional value, for example.

But today the requirement for high purity extractions from biofuels to foods, cost much more to process. The high price of petroleum is driving up costs for all energy-intensive processes. And thermal degradation of flavor, color, aroma and nutrition remains the disappointing side effect of today's food process techniques...until now.

Aqueous Gold's (AG) new revolutionary continuous cold distillation technology cuts the cost of all extractions and eliminates thermal degradation of organic molecules. Our transformational, patented and proprietary extraction and purification technologies make Aqueous Gold uniquely positioned as the only technology provider able to satisfy rapidly growing customer demand for premium quality at an affordable price.

AG delivers low cost and high purity extractions of biofuels (such as fuel ethanol and triglyceride algal oils), flavors, fragrances, chemicals, nutraceuticals, cosmetics and biotech precursors. Our continuous process technology provides low production costs while delivering long shelf life and pristine quality in food products like fresh juices, food additives and edible oils. And our extraction technology uses no solvents or other chemicals with their undesirable lingering residues and potential undesirable side effects.

AG's supercritical process is a continuous closed system - recycling the CO2 instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. We can operate with any supercritical fluid, such as CO2, methane, and ethane. The fluid of choice is usually CO2, which is environmentally safe and, in our process, stable, clean and produces no waste. CO2 has governmental GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) status. Our process continually recycles the CO2 to provide a carbon neutral footprint.

Aqueous Gold's patented transformational technology is unique. It replaces all conventional distillation methods currently in use. Our next generation supercritical process equipment is the only continuous supercritical extraction and purification system available today.

All thermal (high temperature heat) distillation practiced today is one of various forms of steam distillation; old high temperature methods that tear apart the complex “top note” flavor molecules and organic nutritional molecules.  The delicate flavor molecules - or surviving molecule fragments - are the signature aromas, instantly telling us something is  “fresh” or “processed”.  Processing heat destroys critical complex, organic, nutritional molecules that are so important in our diets, such as tocopherols, antioxidant flavonoids, anthocyanins, and other phytonutrients. 

Even the best new conventional technologies provide only incremental improvements in these old steam methods and make only modest reductions in temperature and thermal damage.  

By contrast, Aqueous Gold’s technology operates entirely below thermal damaging temperatures, so that top note molecular destruction is impossible.
